DoubleZero(2Z)

Plain-English breakdown of DoubleZero's whitepaper across three depths.

DoubleZero is a network infrastructure project building a dedicated private fibre network for blockchain validators. Most blockchains rely on the public internet for validators to communicate — which introduces latency, packet loss, and vulnerability to network-level disruptions. DoubleZero's premise: dedicated low-latency connections between validators improve block propagation speed, reduce confirmation times, and increase resilience.

Think of it like a private motorway for validators alongside a public road. Both reach the same destinations, but the private motorway has no traffic jams, no random closures, and no congestion-based slowdowns.

The protocol is designed as a permissionless overlay network: validator operators opt in by subscribing to the DoubleZero network, which routes validator-to-validator traffic through dedicated fibre rather than the open internet.

DoubleZero is primarily focused on high-throughput networks like Solana, where sub-millisecond improvements in propagation have measurable effects on block production and network performance.

The 2Z token is used for network access, staking, and governance.
